Below is a selection of pictures from the words 2008 exhibition, which took place in the Moir Room at the Mitchell Library, Glasgow from 9-13 September 2008

words 2008 combined a variety of elements, including film, an art installation, writers-in-residence and workshops

In the blink of an eye, an art installation, was created specially for words 2008 by public artist Nicola Atkinson

For the installation, Nicola made drawings inspired by stories in the new short story collection Let's Pretend

Let's Pretend contains 37 stories about (in)fidelity from writers currently on the Creative Writing MLitt at Glasgow University

The film featured writers from the Creative Writing MLitt at Glasgow University talking about their writing and reading from their work

Nearly 100 people attended the free daily prose and poetry workshops that took place during words 2008

Visitors browsed through unpublished work by new writers on the Glasgow Creative Writing MLitt in the reading rooms...

...and wrote their own material in the writing room, where there was a noticeboard to display the work

An evening panel discussion on the craft of writing featured Tom Leonard, Anne Donovan, Cynithia Rogerson, Alan Riach, Kei Miller and Michael Schmidt
